A New Approach To Addiction

Support for Families at the Addiction Alliance of Georgia

young family spending time togetherWhen someone you love is struggling with addiction, your whole family feels the impact. Through our partnership between the Emory Addiction Center and Hazelden Betty Ford, families of AAG patients can access a full range of no‑cost education, guidance, and support services designed to help you heal and navigate this journey together.

Families of patients at the Emory Addiction Center/Addiction Alliance of Georgia are encouraged to participate in Family and Children’s Orientation/Education— a virtual program that helps families understand mental health and addiction concerns and their impact on relationships, communication, and recovery.

In addition, each family will have access to:

  • A dedicated Hazelden Betty Ford Family Access Coordinator (FAC) to provide essential case management and care navigation services for the family journey
  • The Hazelden Betty Ford virtual Family Program—four 90-minute virtual workshops
  • Up to six Family Coaching sessions

Family Services Offered
  • Learn. Understand. Support. This series of on-demand videos covers programs offered by our Family Services team, how substance use disorders impact the entire family, and the science behind addiction.

  • This skill-building workshop helps family members learn how to set healthy boundaries, communicate effectively, clarify roles and support their loved one in recovery.
  • Coaching is designed to help your family members repair relationships, rebuild trust and strengthen self-care skills. Your family will work virtually with coaches to address well-being needs.
  • Sixty-minute group sessions are offered weekly, featuring a rotating series of family-focused topics and addiction/recovery-related discussions facilitated by AAG team members.
  • Get connected and stay connected with an app designed to inform, inspire and support the healing journey for families of patients at Hazelden Betty Ford.

Every AAG family has access to a dedicated Family Access Coordinator (FAC)—your personal point of contact to help you navigate the full range of support services.FACs provide:

  •  Personalized guidance based on your family’s needs
  •  Help with enrolling in workshops, coaching, and support groups
  •  Streamlined communication so you never have to figure things out alone
  • A consistent partner throughout your family’s healing journey
